The best medicine

They say that laughter is the best medicine, and the best of all, this medicine is free of charge. It is contagious, once you hear somebody laugh you are bound to do it yourself and spread the positive energy all around you. People bond easily if they laugh a lot, so this will boost your socializing with others and help your mood as well. There is no better way to relax your muscles, as laughing really hard will make your muscles relaxed for as much as 45 minutes! It triggers the so much sought-after hormone called endorphin which is responsible for overall happiness.

Happiness for body and mind

So, what you should definitely do is plan on visiting the World Laughter Day event in Sydney at Bondi beach. Not only will you laugh a lot but you will be encouraged to do some light physical exercise that is good for your well-being and a positive state of mind. The experienced professionals will introduce you to laughter yoga which will make you completely stress-free. Yoga has numerous benefits for both your body and mind. You will get leaner muscles, become more flexible and you can forget about slouching behind the keyboard – yoga will improve your posture, too! If you have high blood pressure, there is no better thing to do than yoga which will drop your blood pressure. And the best thing is – it will make you happy!

4 Reasons Why You Need To Start Getting More Sleep Starting Today

We are all guilty of fighting going to sleep every now and then. You might want to stay up to watch the end of a TV series or want to go out dancing until the early hours. We all know that we should be getting eight hours minimum each night, but many of us still aren’t getting it. We then spend the majority of our days complaining about how tired we are and how we need rest. But even then, the urge to stay awake for longer persists. While there is nothing wrong with little sleep occasionally, not getting enough regularly can be severe. From your health to your looks, not sleeping enough can affect your life in more ways than one. Here are six compelling reasons that will show you just how important getting more sleep each night can be.

It can help you to lose weight

Whether it’s for health reasons or to boost your confidence, losing weight is something many of us strive to achieve. But did you know that getting more sleep each night can actually help you achieve this? Sufficient sleep promotes the development of a hormone called Leptin, which suppresses your appetite. This will stop you from experiencing the urge to gorge and overeat. You can also burn more calories by extending how long you sleep by just one or two hours. Whereas a lack of sleep can have the opposite effect which makes you feel hungry and encourages you to gain weight. So if you’re struggling to stick to your diet and can’t shift the pounds, your limited amount of sleep could be to blame. Sleeping will also give you the strength and energy you need to exercise each day, which will also be beneficial when you’re trying to lose weight. Get yourself to be a little earlier each night to help you create and maintain a fit and healthy body in no time.

It can make you look better

While we all know how good sleep is for our health, it also has some other advantages we should utilize. While you are asleep your body repairs and rejuvenates itself ready for the day ahead. This can give you a fresher appearance and lets you make the most of your looks. As well as getting rid of dark circles, it also reduces puffiness and redness around the eyes. It can also give you a glowing complexion, fewer wrinkles and makes you look happier. On top of that, it’s also been said to improve the effectiveness of your skincare products by increasing blood flow and skin repair. In addition to that, you will also find that you can create flawless finishes with your makeup far easier and with fewer products. It’s always obvious when someone looks well rested, and you’ll begin to notice changes to your appearance instantly. With some of the benefits of a good night’s sleep showing after one night. What more reason do you need to get more sleep than to make you look better. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing.

It can reduce your mood swings

If you often find that your emotions are continually all over the place, not getting enough sleep could be a cause. People who don’t get their right amount of sleep each night increase their chances of developing anxiety and depression. Any of these conditions can have serious effects on your wellbeing, relationships, and career. If they persist, they can also keep you awake at night, which in turn could make your condition worse. So it’s essential that we all develop positive sleeping habits now and reduce the risk of this happening. Mood swings are the most common effect of a lack of sleep with many feeling angry, frustrated and stressed. We have all experienced these emotions at some time or another. We are more susceptible to lash out and start arguments when we are feeling this way which could have detrimental effects on our lives. Making sure you have eight hours every night will boost your mood making you feel happier all round. The best way of doing this is by starting a sleep schedule where you wake up and go to sleep at the same time each day. This will naturally let your body know when you need to wake up and sleep. In little time, your mood and outlook will be more positive and happier as a result.

It can make you pain-free

Recent research has proven that getting sufficient sleep can improve a person’s pain sensitivity. Just two extra hours of sleep per night can ease the pain and discomfort of chronic back and joint issues. As well as other issues such as swollen ankles and severe wounds. This additional sleep helps to decrease inflammation caused by these health concerns. In comparison, a lack of sleep can increase this inflammation and therefore causing further pain. So it’s vital that you get plenty of it. To enhance this effect even further, you need to make sure you are sleeping on the right kind of mattress. Sleeping on a worn or incorrect mattress can exacerbate your back or joint pain. We all have different preferences when it comes to mattresses, so it is essential that you have one that suits. Some styles of mattress are credited with giving extra support to help ease your pain from a health issue or injury more effectively. There are many different styles to choose from, so you need to do your research. You could read a pocket sprung mattress guide online or try some mattresses in store to test the varying firmness levels and styles.

Now you can see how important sleeping is; you can start changing your habits for the better. It’s something we all take for granted, but it needs to be a priority. Nothing will make you look and feel as good as sleep can. So why not go to bed a little earlier tonight and see just how much better you feel come morning.

Wedding Planning: What You Need To Budget For

It’s easy to get very stressed while you’re planning your wedding. Everyone has their perfect idea of the day in their head, but it can sometimes be difficult creating this in reality. Especially at the average cost of weddings these days. But you don’t have to panic that your wedding won’t be up to scratch. Take a deep breath and read through this handy wedding planning guide. It tells you all the important things you need to budget for.

The Venue

Your wedding venue is going to be probably your biggest cost. Especially if you have one venue for the ceremony and another for the reception and evening party. Stately homes such as clevedonhall.co.uk are very popular venues with those wanting a traditional wedding. If you have a church wedding, you will also be expected to pay towards the use of the church. For a fairly cheap day, say your vows in a registry office and put up a marquee in your garden for the reception.

The Dress

Every bride-to-be will have spent so long dreaming about the perfect wedding dress! You’ll probably have spent a long time getting into the shape so you can fit into your ideal design. So it’ll be a shame if you can’t afford the dress you want. Be sure to set some money aside specifically for the wedding dress. Don’t forget; you will also need to buy the groom’s suit and the bridesmaid dresses.

Catering

Depending on the venue you choose for the reception, catering might be included in the price. If not, you will need to include it in your budget. There are loads of different options when it comes to wedding breakfasts and receptions. You can see a lot of ideas on websites like weddingideasmag.com/category/wedding-catering/. A sit-down three-course meal will usually be one of the most expensive options. To keep things on the cheap side, opt for a buffet.

Stag and Hen Dos

Quite a few couples forget to budget for their stag and hen do parties. Even though these aren’t a part of the main day, you should still consider them in your wedding budget. If you don’t save up for them, they may turn out disappointing! So decide early on what you want to do and work out how much it will cost. You can keep cost down by simply going on a night out. If you want to push the boat out, jet off for a relaxing weekend in a European beach resort!

The Rings

They may only be small, but they are a very important item for your big day! And can be very expensive. Simple gold bands can be reasonably priced. However, if you want any inscriptions or other personalised designs, they may push the price up. Take a look at jewellery websites. They sometimes offer a discount if you order online.

If your wedding is just around the corner, it’s time to start saving now. Otherwise your bank balance might say ‘I don’t’!

Nine Things You Need to Know About Boob Jobs

boob job

You will probably need further surgery down the line

Around one in four women need further surgery after ten or so years because no implant can last forever. Some implants leak, or develop a so-called “scar-shell” that can change the shape. There’s also weight loss or gain, as well as pregnancy, to consider, as these factors can change the breast and make further changes desirable.

You’ll need at least a week off work

This first week is the toughest in terms of recovery and you won’t feel like doing much. Plus you’ll be bandaged up and will probably be taking strong painkillers. After seven days you can return to work, as long as you don’t have a heavy manual job. If your implant is placed behind the pectoral muscle (instead of on top of it), recovery time is longer.

Your new breasts will feel different

Implants feel similar to real breasts, but not quite the same. If your original breasts were small, you’ll be able to tell more easily. However, if you opted for smaller implants or have them placed underneath the muscle, this will make them harder to detect.

You can’t jump several cup sizes in one go

You can’t go from AA to DD in one breast augmentation treatment. Your skin needs time to expand and grow over the new implants, so a good surgeon will recommend just one or two cup sizes at first. If you want, you can increase the size of the implants over a number of years.

Breast surgery can affect your ability to breastfeed

If you have your incisions around your areolae, you might damage milk ducts, which will prevent milk coming through the nipple, thus impairing breastfeeding. However, many women have successfully nursed their babies after surgery, but if this is a concern, ask your surgeon to look at underarm or under-crease incisions.

You could lose feeling in your nipples

All types of breast surgery carry this risk, although some types are riskier than others. Sometimes the feeling comes back within months, sometimes it can take a few years.

Breast surgery can affect cancer screening

All women need to look after their breasts, so if you’re thinking of an augmentation or any other sort of surgery, have a thorough check-up to rule out any problems before you go ahead. Have a mammogram to reassure you and talk to your surgeon about how your implants might affect the screening procedure in future. Mammograms after augmentation surgery work best if the implant is underneath the pectoral muscle.

You’ll need to limit your exercise regime for 12 weeks

You will have to cut out any strenuous cardio workouts or anything involving jumping or bouncing. Light cardio exercise is OK after the first week or two, though.

You need to think about your posture

The weight of an implant is pretty much the same as natural breast tissue and so if your breast implants are only small, you shouldn’t feel any difference in your posture and your back. Larger ones carry the risks of back and shoulder pain.

With tuition fees at a maximum of £9,000 a year for home students and grants a thing of the past, it’s a good idea to reduce living costs by studying in cheaper cities. Cardiff

Cardiff students pay an average weekly rent of £85 and this isn’t set to rise any time soon. Public transport is cheap here too, although most students cycle or walk. Cardiff is very affordable for a capital city.

Lincoln

Lincoln also has an average weekly rent of £85, as well as a good mix of bars, clubs, pubs and cultural centres. The city has two good unis – Bishops Grossteste and University of Lincoln.

Durham

Durham has the best quality of life for students in the UK. There’s a great social scene and graduates have a 92% employment rate within the first year of leaving. The average weekly rent is £82 and Durham is seen as a cheaper alternative to Oxford and Cambridge, which are eye-wateringly expensive.

Liverpool

The average weekly rent is £81, but it’s rising as demand increases. However, Liverpool is a cheap city to live in and there are lots of part-time jobs available. An extra benefit is that the two main unis – University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University – have city centre campuses.

Nottingham

The weekly average rent here is £81, but it’s rising slowly. The city has good nightlife and shopping, as well as cheap buses, which make getting around easier.

Sheffield

With a weekly rent of £80, Sheffield is a popular choice for students. The music scene in the city is famous and vibrant, and students can live all over the city and just outside as bus transport is very cheap indeed. Student routes cost under £1.

Leeds

There’s a surfeit of accommodation in Leeds, which means that the weekly average of £80 is set to fall. The overall cost of living is very low, and taxis in Leeds are among the cheapest in the UK. If there’s two or more of you, a cab is often cheaper than each of you paying a bus fare!

Swansea

Swansea’s average rent if £79 a week and it’s not set to rise. There’s lots of clubbing, art and shopping going on and Swansea University campus is a mere three miles from the centre.

Leicester

Leicester also has a weekly rent of £79, which is falling slowly. Food is cheap here, with Leicester being home to Europe’s biggest fresh food market.

Belfast

The UK’s cheapest city costs an average of £69 per week (double room) and this average is falling. Belfast’s Queen University campus is just by the city’s bars and restaurants, so getting a part-time job shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.

Strong Body, Strong Bones – Five Steps to Preventing Osteoporosis

No matter what your age is, you need to tackle the matter of preventing any harm to your bones now rather than later! Osteoporosis is a condition you have most surely heard about and you do not even like its name. Wait for it, what it actually is will make you start your fight to keep bones as healthy as possible immediately.

As you grow older the inapt ability your body has to recover your bones gradually becomes weaker and weaker and as the time goes by your bones begin to lose their density. From the age of 35 you are likely to experience the first symptom – a fracture after a relatively mild trauma, like falling from a higher surface to the ground.

So what is it that you can do now rather than wait for the first sign to invest into a painless future?

1. Exercise on a regular basis

As you grow older your body is not as flexible as it used to be and you have to do a bit of work out not only to stay feet but care about your health, and prevent conditions such as osteoporosis too. Everyone aged more than 19 should introduce a work routine into their daily lives. What you need is 150 minutes of aerobics exercises per week, and a lot of workouts related to your posture. The key to successfully fighting against this condition is to go for weight-bearing and resistance workouts. Some of the weight-bearing ones you can opt for are walking, dancing, stair climbing – the ones you can or already do every day. Try to walk at least 5 miles per week. It is easy to do! Get off at an earlier bus stop and enjoy a walk that will help your bones and mind to relax. When it comes to resistance exercises, if you do not like gyms you can do them at your home. You should do this kind of exercise three times a week to successfully prevent the first signs of osteoporosis.

2. Healthy eating

A healthy balanced diet is the pre-requisite for having a healthy lifestyle but it is specifically important for fighting against conditions such as osteoporosis. You need to think in the terms of placing food rich in Vitamin D as your priority on the grocery shopping list. Our skin absorbs Vitamin D from the sun, and those living in areas where there is insufficient sunlight must think ahead of the time and embark on preventing osteoporosis as soon as possible. If you spend a little time outside you are bound to have low levels of Vitamin D and you will need to go for healthy groceries: tuna, salmon, yoghurt and mushrooms.

osteoporosis 2

3. Calcium intake

What your bones lack in order to be strong is calcium so you need to look for means how to take in the sufficient amount of it per day, which is 700 mg for adults. Your body is in dire need of this mineral as it helps it work normally. The density of bones is directly related to the amount of calcium there is. To get the right amount of this mineral in your body, you can buy calcium supplements and/or eat a lot of leafy greens. Whatever you choose, do it as sooner as you can.

4. Give up on alcohol

Having a one too many never seemed like a much of a problem when you were younger but apart from having more severe hangovers, your body is trying to send you an alarm signal that it suffers and your bones will suffer even more if you do not limit alcohol intake. Alcohol has a bad effect on calcium because it interferes with the absorption and heavy drinking affects your liver so it can have issues regarding calcium, too. Limit the amount of alcohol you drink or quit completely in order to grow old with healthy bones.

osteoporosis 3

5. Good-bye smoking

Smoking is good for nothing. It creates a large amount of free radicals which attack your body’s defence. Those kill the cells intended to make and keep bones safe. Everyone is aware of the hardships you will face once you decide to quit smoking, but your bones and life are at stake, so is there a better reason to stop it right now?

Osteoporosis is a condition that develops gradually over the years so if you want to be safe in the old age, you need to do everything to prevent it, starting from now on! Forget about alcohol and smoking, exercise regularly, have a healthy diet with lots of calcium and Vitamin D and enjoy the sunlight.

9 Tips to Save Time in the Morning

Are you always running late for work? Try these simple tips to save time in the morning…

1. Shower (or take a bath) at night, instead of in the morning

This way you’ll sleep like a baby and save precious morning time.
OR, If you must shower in the morning, use a 2in1 cleansing conditioner (Like Loreal EverCreme), also, you can speed dry your hair by wrapping it in a micro-fibre hair towel for 10-15 mins while you do other stuff… this cuts blow drying time in half 🙂

Time saved : 10 mins

2. Shave at night

Apart from the time it takes, shaving also irritates your skin sometimes… If you do it at night, your skin will be normal by the morning, and to save even more time, use an epilator!

Time saved : 10 mins

3. Prepare your work bag at night

You won’t have to pick out 10 different things (and forget some) for your bag in the morning if you already have it packed and ready to go!

Time saved : 5 mins

4. Pick out your clothes at night

Gather all the clothes, shoes and accessories that you’re going to wear and keep them in one place every night. You could also try putting together the whole week’s clothes on a sunday.

Time saved: 5 mins

5. Pre-Make your lunch

Prepare and pack your lunch the night before, then freeze or refrigerate it.

Time saved: 10 mins

7. Use Cleansing wipes

Instead of washing your face (which you already did at night) use cleansing wipes to freshen up.

8. Make smart makeup choices

Cut unnecessary beauty items from your morning routine and use products that multi-task.
Skip the eye cream and toner.
Use a pencil instead of a liquid eyeliner.
Use a 2-4 eyeshadow palette so you don’t have to pick out shades yourself.
Eyeshadow sticks work well too… just swipe and go.
Use an all in one BB cream instead of seperate concealer, foundation and sunscreen.
(Or use a stick foundation)
Use a stain as blush and lipstick (like Benetint)
And use your fingers to blend makeup whenever possible. This is quicker and save you time as you won’t have to wash the makeup brushes afterwards.

Time saved: 10 mins

9. Do a quick workout (instead of a full blown one)

If you like to workout in the morning, pick your favourite 10 minute workout dvd and go with it for a quick workout without leaving your home.
Or try doing 15 repetitions each of crunches, push-ups, tricep dips, squats and lunges. (3 sets)
If you’re not into working out in the morning, at least do some quick stretches… you’ll feel more active and ready for the day!

Time saved: 10 mins

So now you’ve saved total 70 minutes of morning time! Use this time to cuddle with your man, for a morning quickie, for sleeping a little more or anything else you want!
