Winter Newbie: A Few Tips to Keep you Warm This Winter

Seasons come and go, but for some reason, the winter seems to creep up on you. There you are, enjoying the warmth of each day, and all of a sudden a chill starts to take over your days. You realize that winter is around the corner. You should be prepared for the winter with the right winter basics. The following are some basics you should have, especially if you know you cannot handle winters as well as others.

Inner Warmth

One of the most important things you need to make sure you have this winter is that under layer. Layering is not something that you worry about much in warmer climates, but it becomes vital during the winter. You want to wear leggings and thin sweaters under the rest of your clothes. Be sure to consider either silk or wool, which are some of the warmest materials out there. Try to find 100 percent silk or wool to get the best out of your clothes.

The Socks

You probably already have your winter shoes, which are likely pretty warm, but you need to consider your socks. Most people have cotton socks, and those absorb moisture, which can make you feel even colder. You want to do the best you can to purchase warm socks this winter, especially if you are going to be outside for long periods of time. Stick to wool or alpaca, which are some of the warmest options. Make sure that you purchase long socks to get the most warmth out of your pair.

Ear Covers

Those who have walked in cold temperatures know that the ears get pretty cold; it could feel like the chill in the air is hurting your eardrum. You want to do your best to protect your ears during the winter. What you want to wear are ear muffs. Be sure to consider the warmest materials, too. Stick with wool or even fur, which are some of the warmest materials. There are different styles out there if you are worried that you won’t find ear muffs that work with your particular look.

The Coat

Another thing you absolutely need this winter is a good Merino Snug coat, which is made out of fine wool. Again, this is another important layer that you can use to keep warm this winter. Some people, especially the ones that have not gone through a bad winter, think that a coat is somewhat interchangeable with a jacket. This is not the case. Coats are thick pieces of cloth that help stop that chill from hitting your body completely, keeping you warmer longer. Coats are sometimes over-sized to keep more of your body warm during the winter. It also ensures that your clothes for the day stays relative snow-free.

Hopefully, some of these tips help ensure that you are warm this winter. Of course, there are other layers that you need to consider like a good scarf and gloves, but these tips should guide you in the right direction.
